NZ Children a Priority

Funding What Now & The Erin Simpson Show 2012

Today NZ On Air announced investments of over $14 million into New Zealand children's television programming to screen in 2012. NZ On Air's focus is providing daily and weekly series for three main audience groups - pre-school, primary, and secondary school-aged children and young people. "With the almost limitless range of foreign programmes available, it's critical that there is significant programming on our screens which reflects New Zealand culture and identity to our young people", said NZ On Air chief executive Jane Wrightson.

"NZ On Air has an annual funding round dedicated to children's programming to ensure sufficient focus is placed on this important audience", said Ms Wrightson. "We are very pleased we've been able to renew some excellent programmes that have been embraced by their audiences", she said.
This funding round included the renewal of the Whitebait-TV produced What Now  and The Erin Simpson Show.

"We are delighted and very grateful for the support of both NZ on Air and TVNZ. For the Whitebait-TV team our audience comes first. We are passionate about reflecting kiwi culture on NZ telly and keeping the production values of our shows high. We have some amazing ideas planned for What Now and the Erin Simpson Show and look forward to delivering  stellar seasons in 2012".
